How to File a Letter to the FCC: That will encourage it to extend its TCPA ruling to state and local governments.

If you are interested in submitting a letter to the FCC to encourage it to extend its TCPA ruling to state and local governments, instructions on how to file are as follows:
- Write a letter and save it in .PDF format with a short and generic name (e.g., “TCPA Letter”). An example of a recent letter is available here.
- Go to https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings
- Enter the following information in response to the following questions (marked with asterisks on the page):
- Proceeding: There are two proceedings in which the letter should be filed
- Begin typing and select “18-152 – Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau Seeks Comment on Interpretation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act in Light of the D.C. Circuit’s ACA International Decision” and press “ENTER” to populate the field
- Then begin typing and select “02-278 – Rules and Regulations Implementing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991” and press “ENTER” to populate the field with the second proceeding
- Name of Filer: Fill in name of your organization/company and press “ENTER” to populate the field
- No need to include other contact information
- Type of Filing: Select “Letter” from the drop down menu
- You do not need to enter a File Number, Report Number, or Bureau Identification Number
- Address: Fill in Address Line(s), City, State, Zip Code and press “ENTER” to populate the fields
- In the “Upload Documents” field, click on “Click or drop files here” and select your .PDF letter
- Click on “Continue”
- You will then be asked to review the information you entered and verify that the file you will be uploading is the correct file. If the information looks correct, click on “Confirm” and your letter will be electronically filed. You will then be taken to a confirmation page. If you do not receive a confirmation, there may have been a problem with the FCC’s website or your connection.
