Weekly Welcome: Punta Gorda, FL and Weston, FL

Two Florida Cities Continue Modernizing with Granicus

More governments at the local, state, and federal level are seeing the benefits of digital government first-hand, as shown by Granicus’ ever-growing customer family. Whether they are long-time partners or new to working with Granicus, as our customers discover the opportunities presented through increased digital engagement with their residents, many expand their portfolio of products.

Each week, we highlight our newest customers, including those strengthening their civic engagement tools with additional Granicus services. This week we focus on two Florida cities that have done just that: Harnessing the shared power of using multiple Granicus products as they create a more transparent, accessible, and modern government for their residents.

Launched: Peak, Video and Boards and Commissions Tools Automate and Modernize Public Meetings in Punta Gorda, FL

With a population of 20,369, Punta Gorda, FL, dubs itself “Florida’s Harborside Hometown,” thanks to its reputation as a year-round destination for fisherman, boaters, and tourists who flock to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico beyond. This Western Florida town balances natural attractions with a historic district which was restored after Hurricane Charley hit in 2004. That same dedication to building a modern town that keeps its hometown roots is reflected in Punta Gorda’s relationship with Granicus. After already implementing govAccess for their government website, Punta Gorda decided to expand the suite of Granicus tools to include a variety of solutions for public meetings: Peak, Video, Send Agenda, Boards and Commissions, and Closed Captioning. With these new implementations in place, Punta Gorda will be able to provide improved transparency and compliance for residents, while also creating efficiencies for staff by automating more of the processes related to creation and distribution of meeting agendas.

Launched: Weston, FL, Redesigns Website, Adds Peak to Legislative Tools

Built along the edge of the Everglades to the west and near Miami to the southeast, Weston, FL, is renowned for lush landscapes and distinctive neighborhoods for just under 70,000 residents. Art festivals, concerts, and celebrity golf tournaments make Weston a cultural hotspot combined with tranquil biking and walking trails. Granicus services also have combined to give Weston’s city government a broad set of tools to engage and serve residents. Already using Granicus’ Host Compliance and govAccess tools to great success, the city added Granicus’ Peak tool to their legislative solutions in order to further modernize governance and increase civic engagement. The addition came alongside a recent update of their website, which focused on increasing efficiencies provided through the govAccess solution.
