The data behind digital government transformation
There is data out there that highlights the importance of digitizing government services and operations. There are even a few reports that spotlight progress for certain sectors or use cases. But there are scant resources available that examine the impact digital transformation is having across the public sector.
But there are scant resources available that examine the impact digital transformation is having across the public sector.
Here at Granicus, our network of more than 7,000 public sector customers generates upwards of 30 billion digital interactions through our platform each year. Those touchpoints are leveraged by individual customers to improve their own operations and shared annually through our series of benchmark reports (see the reports & metrics section at the end of the report for more on those benchmarks). But the raw data only tells a portion of the true story.
Where digital government succeeds – and struggles
We reached out to our customers to get a better understanding of how they’re using digital solutions to deliver better government, where they see opportunities to improve, and how they think emerging technologies like artificial intelligence will come into play. We then combined those responses with our internal data to identify the most impactful trends affecting digital government in 2025.
We compiled those insights into our first State of Digital Government report.
It’s been an enlightening process gathering this data from our government partners.
Through your answers we heard your frustrations with the status quo, saw your trials, and felt your uncertainty. But we also saw hope and grit and determination and the unceasing desire to help your communities thrive by providing exceptional government experiences.
Turning insights into action
We hope this report can be an affirmation that your ongoing efforts are worthwhile, as well as a source of inspiration through 2025 and beyond.
Thank you for joining us in our mission to build meaningful connections out of every government interaction.
