Three Reasons to Attend the Granicus National Summit

Every spring, we bring together public sector employees in Washington, D.C. for the Granicus National Summit. Last year, more than 1,000 government employees from over 35 federal, state and local organizations attended the Summit in-person and on livestream to join in inspiring discussions, hands-on breakout sessions, and networking opportunities.

This year’s Summit is taking place on May 15th from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. in downtown Washington, D.C. and will include even more opportunities for government employees to learn from and network with peers from across the country.

Need more reasons to attend this year? We’ll give you three:

1. You’ll hear from award-winning keynote speakers

This year’s cutting-edge keynote speakers include Shankar Vedantam and Jay Baer. Shankar is the host of NPR’s Hidden Brain podcast. He will discuss how the “hidden brain” shapes change and innovation in your life, when you don’t even know it. His presentation will help you think about all the challenges you face in a brand new way, and help you to embrace the role as an organizational change-agent.

Jay Baer is a NY Times best selling author and the President of Convince & Convert. Through his hilarious and poignant storytelling, attendees will learn the three main ways to use citizen experience to trigger word-of-mouth, illustrate mistakes to avoid, and inspire you to put new strategies in practice. Attendees will step into the mind of an award-winning marketer and transcend their ability to reach and engage citizens.

2. You’ll connect with an incredible community

Whether you’re a communications director, program manager, city clerk, or IT manager, there be many chances to meet and connect with other like-minded leaders – from the opening breakfast to the afternoon happy hour event. Additionally, we’ll have breakout sessions where you can learn more about the digital tools that are most pertinent to you and uncover tactical advice from industry-leading practitioners.

3. You’ll leave with actionable insights

Across all levels of government, leaders are convinced that the challenges they face are insurmountable. At the largest gathering of communications and legislative managers, the Granicus Summit is a place to turn the lessons learned from others into a path forward for your organization. The full day of inspiring keynotes, networking, and in-depth breakouts will have you feeling inspired and ready to turn your mission into quantifiable results.

Not in DC? No problem. We know it can be challenging to get your supervisor to sign off on sending you to an out-of-town conference. That’s why we put together this justification letter that you can easily fill out and send to your manager to get approved to attend. Additionally, we have travel information available for out-of-town attendees, as well as some suggestions on other hotels and things to do in Washington, D.C.
