Sleepy topics could be due to a range of reasons, but unlike<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/blog\/win-back-sleepy-subscribers\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sleepy subscribers,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have not previously gained value from your topic. Remember, this applies most to listed topics, as many GovDelivery accounts have restricted and unlisted topics that have never been sent a communication, for good reason. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The Topic &amp; Category Report Has Insight<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are not worried about this scenario, as an administrator, checking the Topic &amp; Category Report guarantees you are engaged with all your topics. It\u2019s especially powerful for Account Administrators because it provides a holistic view into the range of total messages topic subscriptions are sent. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Determine your sleepy topics:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To find topics that have not received any bulletins, begin by selecting Reports on the left menu. Once on the \u201cReports\u201d page, scroll to the very bottom of the page to click the \u201cTopic &amp; Category Report.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15325 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/png\/image-1.png\" alt=\"image-1\" width=\"1440\" height=\"777\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For our purpose, you can ignore the date range and simply select \u201cShow Report\u201d. Again, for our purpose, toggle the visibility drop-down menu to \u201cListed\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15326 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/png\/image-2.png\" alt=\"image-2\" width=\"1275\" height=\"562\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The leftmost column after your topic names, \u201cTopics with Total Subscriptions to Date\u201d will be the total number of subscriptions that topic has grown since it was originally created (find the created date for your topics at the bottom of the Topic Information page).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15327 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/png\/image-3.png\" alt=\"image-3\" width=\"339\" height=\"61\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rightmost column of the table, \u201cTotal Bulletins Sent to Date\u201d will be the total number of bulletins sent to this topic since it was originally created. It is a red-flag if your Listed topic has a high Total Subscriptions to Date and the Total Bulletins Sent to Date is zero.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15328 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/png\/image-4.png\" alt=\"image-4\" width=\"996\" height=\"463\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the results on this page will show all Listed topics and their results, you should export the table to a \u201cCSV\u201d by selecting the button on the top, right of the table. Once exported, use the file to sort topics by the total bulletins sent to date descending from 0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15329 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/png\/image-5.png\" alt=\"image-5\" width=\"1340\" height=\"561\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><b><br \/>\nWhat to Do Next<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Topic &amp; Categories Report has a significant amount of information, but there is a checklist you can immediately review:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are Group and Topic Administrators assigned to your sleepy topic? We\u2019ve found that many times sleepy topics are ones without administrators assigned. Using the Administrator&#8217;s details within these sleepy topics, determine if there are administrators that own this topic but have not sent any details to it and\/or provide additional administrators access to the sleepy topics.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is it time to sunset this sleepy topic? When you have discovered a sleepy topic, you have two options to continue to engage the subscribers without continuing to support the topic:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transition subscribers to parallel topics: Restrict the sleepy topic so it does not continue to receive subscriptions. Remember, this applies most to listed topics, as many GovDelivery accounts have restricted and unlisted topics that have never been sent a communication, for good reason. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The Topic &amp; Category Report Has Insight<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are not worried about this scenario, as an administrator, checking the Topic &amp; Category Report guarantees you are engaged with all your topics. It\u2019s especially powerful for Account Administrators because it provides a holistic view into the range of total messages topic subscriptions are sent. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Determine your sleepy topics:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To find topics that have not received any bulletins, begin by selecting Reports on the left menu.
