style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GovDelivery Public Sector Communications Conference<\/span> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">– a full day of presentations from digital communicators and service designers about\u00a0how digital tools\u00a0can be used to improve citizen engagement and the success of government initiatives. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attendees left with some practical\u00a0examples of how\u00a0organisations are using digital engagement tools to make\u00a0a difference in their communities. These included insights into which platforms can be most\u00a0impactful for enhancing the customer experience, informing large populations about critical service updates, and encouraging more citizens to take positive\u00a0action – or simply\u00a0the “right action”. For example, presenting\u00a0their recycling bin for collection on the right day, thus improving service efficiency and customer satisfaction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Huw Ap Dewi is the Performance and Development Officer at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrexham.gov.uk\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wrexham County Borough Council in Wales<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and at the event he talked about how digital tools (specifically, the GovDelivery <a href=\"https:\/\/govdelivery.wistia.com\/medias\/7q5ymyhrm7\">Advanced Package for Communications Cloud<\/a>)\u00a0are helping Wrexham reach their target audiences and engage people\u00a0effectively. Huw also pointed out that he is “the second most famous man in Wrexham” – after Mickey Thomas, that is. So we were pretty lucky to book him!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wrexham is in north-east Wales and has a population of around 135,000 people. In 2015, the council\u00a0sought a new way to reach\u00a0communities on\u00a0issues like winter preparedness, contingency plans, and roadworks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They selected GovDelivery\u2019s Communications Cloud and launched with a small number\u00a0of subscribers and just 10 topics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In just over a year, Wrexham has grown its\u00a0subscriber base to 23,000 people – 17 percent of the population – and communicates on 34 different topics. The slide below highlights this topic growth,\u00a0to provide citizens with more detailed and targeted information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wrexham expands its e-bulletin topic options for citizens (2015 > 2016)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14638 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/png\/Wales.png\" alt=\"Wales\" width=\"945\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a growing subscriber base and an increased level of engagement, Wrexham set out to solve an issue that was taking up much of the organisation’s valuable time and resources: <strong>recycling bin reminders.<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Huw, \u201cIf you want an example of our dedication to customer care, this is it”. Previously, Wrexham was manually scheduling 477 bulletins a week to remind residents about their recycling bin collections. This\u00a0took a day of someone’s time\u00a0at the council. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two months ago, Wrexham implemented\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.govdelivery.com\/blog\/just-launched-new-digital-offerings-for-government-communicators\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GovDelivery\u2019s Advanced Package for the Communications Cloud<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which allows organisations to schedule bulletins in bulk. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the Advanced Package, the council was able to streamline this process, scheduling campaigns for recycling bin reminders in two large bulk campaigns. These included insights into which platforms can be most\u00a0impactful for enhancing the customer experience, informing large populations about critical service updates, and encouraging more citizens to take positive\u00a0action – or simply\u00a0the “right action”. For example, presenting\u00a0their recycling bin for collection on the right day, thus improving service efficiency and customer satisfaction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Huw Ap Dewi is the Performance and Development Officer at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrexham.gov.uk\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wrexham County Borough Council in Wales<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and at the event he talked about how digital tools (specifically, the GovDelivery <a href=\"https:\/\/govdelivery.wistia.com\/medias\/7q5ymyhrm7\">Advanced Package for Communications Cloud<\/a>)\u00a0are helping Wrexham reach their target audiences and engage people\u00a0effectively. Huw also pointed out that he is “the second most famous man in Wrexham” – after Mickey Thomas, that is. So we were pretty lucky to book him!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wrexham is in north-east Wales and has a population of around 135,000 people. In 2015, the council\u00a0sought a new way to reach\u00a0communities on\u00a0issues like winter preparedness, contingency plans, and roadworks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They selected GovDelivery\u2019s Communications Cloud and launched with a small number\u00a0of subscribers and just 10 topics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In just over a year, Wrexham has grown its\u00a0subscriber base to 23,000 people – 17 percent of the population – and communicates on 34 different topics.
